Rhyming songs for kids - Jack Hartmann

Learning to HEAR when words rhyme is an important phonological processing skill in learning to read and spell. These videos are silly but fun and teach the concept well. Great for beginning readers!

"Just a note that social skills don't always have to be practiced indoors with a workbook. There are many other ways to get kids working on social skills.

One tip I'd give is to be purposeful about teaching and practicing social skills. For example, if you are gardening to work on patience and empathy, talk about it! Talk about how gardening can be a slow activity. You have to take care of plants, give them what they need, and wait to see them grow. Talk about how good it feels to take care of something else and how wonderful it can be when you start to see those seeds sprout!

Which of these activities is your favorite?"

Nurture and Thrive - Parenting and Child Development

As educators, we’re expected to be a lot of things to a lot of people. We’re teachers, coaches, caretakers, custodians, and so much more. To our students, we don’t just tell them what they need to learn, we show them in the way we, ourselves, behave.

In the middle of a chaotic classroom or other stressful situation, it can be hard to find the kind of mindfulness and positive language we hope to model. Here are a few ways we can do that with just some small adjustments to our words.

Yet another tournament-tagged recapture!!

Our team had the pleasure of participating in the L'nu Sipuk Kina'muokuom School (LSK) school tournament in 2019 for the first time, this awesome tournament teaches youth how to fish, proper handling etiquette, and of course our research with tagging demonstrations! On 8 May 2019 - the day of the tournament we tagged 26 bass caught by youth and BASS1997 has been recaptured!

BASS1997 was caught on a circle hook with bloodworm and was 50cm total length upon being tagged by our team member Rachel Pomerleau.

On 9 May 2020 angler Jerry Maloney recaptured it on the Stewiacke River at 20" (50.8 cm) - the first time it has been recaptured since it was tagged

Thank you LSK and Jerry!
